From 2016 to 2020 he was director of the Agri-environmental Research Centre \u201cEnrico Avanzi\u201dof University of Pisa. He is editor in chief of the \u201cItalian Journal of Animal Science\u201d and ordinary academic member of the \u201cAccademia dei Georgofili\u201d. He was nominated by the European Commission as expert member of the EIP-AGRI Focus Group \u201cReducing Emission from Cattle Farming\u201d.
